Norlington School for Boys is a same-sex comprehensive secondary school in the London borough of Waltham Forest, East London. The school opened a mixed-sex sixth form, offering 10 A-level subjects including science, technology, engineering and mathematics, in September 2015. Under the stewardship of Headteacher John Hernandez and his leadership team, the school has been ranked among the most improved in London and in the top 10000 for improvement nationally. It has also been recognised as one of the top 5 boys schools in the country in 2014. The school is expected to retain its position in the top 5 following record-breaking GCSE exam results in 2015. Since Mr Hernandez took over in 2010, pupils achieving A * to C grades in five or more GCSEs including English and Maths has risen sharply from 49 per cent to 64 per cent. Norlington was rated ‘Good’ with outstanding features at its latest Ofsted inspection in September 2013. The school is situated on Norlington Road in Leyton. The chair of governors is Stephen Pierpoint. In a summary of findings, inspectors described the quality of teaching as 'good'. The findings read: "Teachers plan engaging lessons with creative resources and there are many opportunities for collaborative work, peer discussions and interactions."
